After a monster apocalypse, four kids are left alone in a town full of monsters and zombies. As of right now, the monsters and kids live together in harmony. Except for one monster who wants to destroy the world and a couple of creatures. While in an intense game of real-life Mario Kart, the kids hear human voices on the radio. They soon realize that the might be able to see their families again. Everyone is excited--except Jack. Jack has no family or friends to go back to. All he has are his friends here and the town of monsters. He realizes that he has to convince his friends that life is better as it is and there's no need to leave. So he sets out to make sure his friends are having too much fun to care about the radio.
I feel bad for Jack. I think he is caught in a real moral dilemma. He understands how badly his friends want to see their families again. Especially when they thought they would never have a chance to. But he is afraid of losing his makeshift family that he has now.
One thing that I do like about this book is that it has a decent amount of text in it for a graphic novel. I think that it would serve as a good transition book for students that are stuck on graphic novels. The kids will still love it and there are plenty of pictures, but they would spend more time interacting with text.
This is a fun read. I like how suspenseful and dramatic the story is. I can't wait to see what happens. Will the kids find the other humans? Will the be reunited with their families? How will this affect Jack? I look forward to all these questions being answered when I finish the story.

This book sounds interesting! We will have students in our classroom that don't have real families or have bad situations happening in their family. I think students in the classroom would enjoy reading this book. Have fun finishing this book!
